Grant approved! Improving water quality from Lviv to the Baltic Sea

Grant approved! By accelerating the upgrade of Lviv’s wastewater system with an additional €6.5 million, E5P donors are improving water quality all the way to the Baltic Sea. The new work is co-funded by an EBRD loan of €10 million.
The overall benefits of this pioneering project include:
• Completely preventing direct discharges of sewage
• Ensuring 95% of Lviv’s effluent is compliant with EU and local norms
• Reduction of algal bloom by slashing nitrogen and phosphorus in wastewater
• Increasing Lviv’s energy security with biogas produced at the treatment plant
